Kansas Department of Transportation Extends Implementation of CADconform
April 14, 2006 (Houston, TX) — Altiva Software announces the additional sale of 55 CADconform licenses to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Bridge Design and Road Design divisions. These two divisions join the KDOT Cartography/GIS division, which has been using CADconform to manage CAD standards since 2002.
The Bridge and Road divisions had previously purchased a CADconform competitor, but the users did not like the interface and its standards checking proved inadequate. The Bridge and Road divisions agreed to a demonstration of CADconform which led to a short in-house trial and the purchase of CADconform.
"After using it for a short period, we agreed to purchase CADconform for all of our users," added Mark Segelquist, Applications Developer, KDOT Road Design, CADD Support. "CADconform finally gives us the opportunity to obtain 100% checking functionality."
"We were very impressed with how quickly and easily we were able to get up and running with CADconform," said Stephen Herrick, Applications Developer, KDOT Bridge Design, CADD Support. "And there were many other features that far outweighed the competition."
Other specific features cited by KDOT as helping to chose CADconform include:
-
Unique ability to import existing standards from a multitude of existing electronic formats allowing KDOT to leverage its previous work.
-
Drafters love the powerful CADconform drafting menus and find them faster for drafting.
-
Advanced capabilities to check all the details of everything in the drawings.
-
Ability to empower administrators for easy and reliable standards creation, maintenance, security and access.
-
Unified administration and user interfaces that avoid the need to install a separate, cumbersome administrative application.
-
Flexibility to use any ODBC database system for the central standards repository.
-
Powerful and flexible reporting features which allow for checking hundreds or thousands drawings against multiple disciplines.
-
Ability to deliver massive time savings while upgrading legacy data to the latest CAD versions and at the same time insuring 100% data integrity.
